FREE BULK ITEM DROP OFF 2023

 

July 17, 2023 – July 22, 2023

 

A FREE Bulk Item Drop-off at AMSTERDAM TRANSFER STATION LOCATED at 1247 RT. 5S (FORMERLY MOSA) is scheduled for the week of July 17, 2023 – July 22, 2023.  Homeowners and renters only, within the municipal boundaries of the City of Amsterdam will be entitled to drop off bulk items at no cost at the AMSTERDAM TRANSFER STATION LOCATED AT 1247 RT. 5S (FORMERLY MOSA) during cleanup week.  NO COMMERCIAL USERS OR CONTRACTORS WILL BE ALLOWED TO DROP OFF ANY ITEMS.  NO DUMP TRUCKS, FLATBEDS, BOX TRUCKS, U-HAULS, DUMP TRAILERS OR COMMERCIAL TRAILERS WILL BE ALLOWED.   

 

The AMSTERDAM TRANSFER STATION LOCATED AT 1247 RT. 5S (FORMERLY MOSA) will be open Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.   The transfer station is closed on Sunday.  All loads going to the AMSTERDAM TRANSFER STATION LOCATED AT 1247 RT. 5S (FORMERLY MOSA) facility must be covered upon arrival. 

 

Owners and/or tenants MUST obtain a drop off ticket(s) from the City Engineer’s Office at City Hall, 61 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY  12010 beginning Monday, June 26, 2023 between 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, OR Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. OR Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at City Hall on the 1st floor BEFORE being allowed to dump.  Proof of residence must be presented at the time of picking up the tickets in the form of a valid NYS driver’s license or City of Amsterdam tax bill (NO EXCEPTIONS).  *NOTE: TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AFTER SATURDAY, JULY 15, 2023

 

All white goods (bulk items/scrap metal) will be accepted at the Amsterdam DPW 4th Avenue site, located on Fourth Avenue & Belmont Place, Monday, July 17, 2023 through Friday, July 21, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  NO TICKET REQUIRED. 

 

Homeowners and renters will be responsible for providing the attendants with proof of certification that refrigerants have been removed from refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers. 

 

NO items containing refrigerants will be accepted without proper certification from a NYS certified technician stating that the refrigerant has been removed in accordance with all applicable NYS Department of Environmental Conservation laws, rules and regulations.

The following items are NOT included in the Bulk Item Drop-off:

    These items can be paid for at the transfer station

      
    NO ELECTRONICS (T.V.’s; COMPUTERS, ETC.)
  2. TIRES
  3. NO RECYCLING MATERIALS (PAPER, CARDBOARD OR COMMINGLED)
  4. CONSTRUCTION DEMOLITION DEBRIS
  5. BATTERIES
  6. PAINT
  7. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL 
  8. ROOFING MATERIALS 
  9. PROPANE TANKS
  10. WOOD OVER 4’ LONG
